The Service

The service format will be very similar to our current service, except we will meet on Saturday evenings. The Saturday time slot is an option for those who prefer Saturday or cannot make it on Sunday, and it also allows people from the Luck community who are currently involved in their own church to check us out.

Sunday School will remain at the Frederic campus Sunday mornings.

It is important for the second campus to have a person primarily responsible for leading the ministry efforts and shepherding the people. Mike Morgan will fill this role and will be responsible for providing pastoral care, engaging the local community, overseeing campus operations/administration, and developing ministry leaders of the South Campus.

Why Luck?

We believe Luck is a strategic location for several reasons:

  1. A campus there would anchor and expand our presence where we believe the Lord is directing us.
  2. A vigorous, growing presence would greatly help us in our task of "More believers, Better believers."
  3. We currently have members who live there who would like to worship in their own community and believe a local campus would help them in their efforts to evangelize friends and neighbors.
  4. The population of Luck is expected to continue to grow, and we believe the demographics match our ability to touch lives with the gospel.

One Church, Two Locations

While it makes sense that the second campus will be attended primarily by those who live around Luck and in areas to the south, attendance at either campus will be totally open. In fact, we would invite people to visit the other campus occasionally to connect with the larger work that God is doing. We would, however, encourage people to identify with one campus or another to make it more likely that proper shepherding will take place.

It is important that we remain of one mind and one purpose between the two campuses. The Elder Board will explore ways to maintain a strong connection between the campuses. Possibilities include a quarterly joint worship/celebration service, sharing praises and prayer requests between campuses, all-church potlucks and picnics, and encouraging mixed Bible studies. We will also look at ways of enhancing our website to create a stronger communication hub for the church.

Isn't "Frederic EFC" a little specific?

Yes. Most multi-site churches have a name that is not specific to a town or other geographic location. Having a name that is specific to a town or other geographic location can create unnecessary barriers. Obviously, Frederic EFC is very specific, and does not accurately reflect our vision for reaching beyond our immediate community.

With this being the case, the Elder Board believes this is an opportune time to consider a name change for Frederic EFC. We're currently taking suggestions for names and the congregation will vote to pick a final one.

Experts and Guides

We have the benefit of being able to draw on the experience of hundreds of other missional churches that have responded to kingdom opportunities using the multi-site model. In October we sent several leaders to a national multi-site conference put on by North Coast Church in California.

We also have the full support of the Forest Lakes District (FLD) of the EFCA. Ray Olson, Director of Church Multiplication for the FLD, has made himself available to help guide us through this process.

What about the current building in Frederic?

The Elder Board has completed work on a ministry description for the Facility Expansion Committee. This committee will be responsible for considering the long-term facility needs of the church and for making recommendations for both remodeling the present facility and adding any new facilities. Several people representing a broad range of the congregation are now being asked to consider serving on that committee. Once that committee is formed, we will introduce the members to you.
